after seeing the good info in a similar thread (993) I wanted to ask about tires for my 996.  Specifically, R compounds.

Currently, I'm running mpsc's (225/40/18 & 285/30/18) and need to replace them.  Due to camber (lack of), the outer edges are wearing.  I did get around 20+ days from the rear, but only about 13 days or so from the front.

Is it worth staying with these sizes or jumping to 235's in the front?  I like the grip of the mpsc's, but I'm also open for suggestions on other tires, such as the Nitto, Toyo, etc.

Steve:

Get camber plate and have more negative camber.  This will help your front tire.

A wider front tire with your current setup will not help it last longer.

Once you get enough negative camber you should consider either 235 or 245 for the front and 296 for the back.
