I had to run in the morning so I could not run in SS so I ran as non compete instead. It was a great course and a lot of fun. I had a plan to have a nice clean tight line and keep getting faster every run and did that quite well except my last run - completely lost focus. I saw Dave Newman kick some major butt. It was nice to see a p-car so fast. Wish we got more runs though. Anyone else enjoyed it?

Fast course. I was seeing speeds in the 60-65 mph range. I ended up 9th out of 19 in SM. Not bad. I was running 205 Hoosiers up front and 185 dunslops all-seasons out back. Can you say loose.... Confusedhock:. With more tire, who knows. Agreed on getting more runs. Good time had by all. :dude:

Had a great time. But I'm so slow. Where do I learn restraint? I try and go to fast all the time. Sliding is great but I would be faster if I slowed down and kept better lines thru the cones. Hopefully next autocross I can get a ride with someone who knows what they are doing so I learn something. All the waiting and then your up and you want to let the car rip!

I think the biggest lesson for me was to stay very focused. Since I do not have enough seat time to let some sort of a autox second nature to take cover, I had to make sure I remain conscious of exactly what I am trying to do, what mistakes I made, etc and keep going faster every run. I started way slow on my first run.

Getting a ride from somebody is not a bad idea as well as letting an instructor drive your car. One of the most important thing in Autocross that I have to keep in mind all the time is to "look ahead", sounds simple but very hard to do. It helps a lot if you know where your car should be rather than focusing on what's in front of you. For me, what I learned is that, if you try to be smooth, you get better time but if you try to go fast, your time goes down. Drifting is not the fastest way to go around those cones but fun thing to do.
