At the tech inspection there was a discussion regarding the benefits and drawbacks of antique and classic car registration. Below is a link to a facts sheet regarding this issue.

Particularly, there was a discussion over whether you could drive an antique at night. As you can see from the fact sheet, you cannot drive an antique that does not have modern lighting at night.

I have classic plates on my 84-944 & 92-968; I also have a beater, 96 Jeep.
I LOVE what they've done to my insurance. My teenagers are on the beater policy.
Having "Classic Car" insurance for the two P-Cars saves me about a $1000/year.
As far as the "1 day a week"; avoid seeing the same officers with any frequency

Just don't get caught in the mileage trap if your ever put in an insurance claim. Classic and Antique are both mileage sensitive policies.
Some policies also only let you drive to shows, meets and to the mechanic.

I get 5,000 miles a year for my 1987 911. Costs me about 400 bucks for the whole year and I live in the city. insured for 25K.

My 1977 911 has 5000 miles per year allowed and the premium is $112.74 a year to insure with a agreed value of $35,000. I have a $1000 deductible on comprehensive and collision. Terry and I do insure 8 vehicles so we do get a large multi vehicle discount reflected in this premium.

I have regular PA plates on my 77 911S. My insurance gives me 3000 miles per year and it costs me about $150. As far as I know I have no restrictions other than mileage thru American Collectors. The car is clean for emissions and that isn't a problem either. Maybe this helps?
