I have a broken right-side attach bracket on the rear stabilizer bar on my 1989 Carrerra.  I live in Buckingham, PA (near Doylestown).  Looking for suggestions for a shop that can do the weld repair and upgrade to the newer style bracket.  I'm a little leary of Holbert's as they don't seem to have any mechanics left that can work on air-cooled cars, much less have welding skills.  Also, can the car be driven (carefully) to a repair facility? Thanks.

I had the same problem on my 87 Carrera. i understand it is a common problem.   I discovered the break at Dougherty's and they did a great job with the weld and repair.  A hike from Buckingham though.

check with Steve Meenan (stentech on the forum).  His friend Nate is an excellent welder.

Followup - I took the car to Dinardo Motors in Willow Grove (saw 7 air-cooled Porsches in the parking lot, 2 928s, etc) on the advice of a friend.  They welded the part in for me and did an excellent job.  I highly recommend their work.  They know 911s and have been at this location for many years.

Nice, I'm not really having a problem with the ones on my car but with my car also being 18 years old I figure its coming up. Probably have them replaced this fall before SP this Nov. Did you replace them with the WEVO upgrades or just go with stock?

I bought a replacement (upgraded version) for about $75, but Dinardo said they always weld repair the existing one.  They were doing the same thing to an SC when I dropped my car off.  They ran a beautiful bead and the repair is perfect.  If you want a new bracket you can have mine for $50 - I'm sure Princeton Porsche is going to charge me for re-stocking anyway.

Thank you for the offer but I am planning to upgrade to the bigger mounts as I will be upgrading the sway bars and most likely the torsion bars this winter.
