It is with bittersweet feelings that I make my first post to the forum:

Yesterday, I drove to my sister's house in Lehighton to meet her and my mother for a fun day of shopping at the outlets in Tannersville.  We enjoyed the day, commenting a few times on how unlucky we were to be shopping on a nasty, rainy day.  When we arrived home at 5, we were greeted by the remnants of the "innocent" storm that passed through the area.  Apparently, the hail that hit Lehighton was the size of golfballs.  Window screens were torn and siding was ripped from my sister's house.  HUGE dents were left in my mom's car.  My "bunny" was damaged on literally every panel except the driver's door and the back.  It even ripped the GTI badge off of the front of the car.  Luckily my windshield was OK, but the force of the hail did knock my EZPass on the floor of the car.  I have never seen anything like this in the Northeast.

It's truly amazing footage.

that sucks - sorry to hear the news.

it's only money and you did not get hurt - that's the key.

get her fixed and get her back to the track.

The Bunny never dies, it just keeps going and going and going.

Unfortunately, from your description, it sounds like your insurance company will be getting a callSad. Good luck.

Many years ago, there was a severe hail storm in the Collegeville / Royersford area that damaged a large # of cars. My friend who owns a body shop was inundated with claims. I helped him ID the dents for the claimant's insurance.

One method that they used to fix the roof dents was to use dry ice on the dent, then follow with a warm towel. The superchilling then rapid heating would "pop" the metal back to the original shape by contraction and expansion. This worked on a lot, but not all of the dents.

In fact, there was recently a post on the Rennlist forum describing the new way, using the aerosol spray "dustoff" or something, that is used for keyboards. When inverted, and sprayed, it will freeze an area, then as it evaporated and warmed, it claims that the dent would "pop".

Are you still planning on bringing the Bunny to Summit?

Yes, the Bunny will be at Summit.

Unfortunately, a friend of ours who works for Erie insurance said it was "the worst hail damage he's ever seen."

God must not like our track car. Big Grin

I've never met you or your car, but I can feel your pain.

That sounds like a tremendous amount of damage!  We have a guy in the club that does Paintless dent removal.  Could this technology be used in your case?
