I want to change the oil in my 915 transmission.  Is there a CLEAN way to get the quarts of oil into the trans?  Can anyone suggest a gadget for this.  I have Red Line sitting and hoping for the a Scotty to energize the appropriate transporter

What you want is one of those things that look like a grease gun.  You will fill the device with the oil, and there is a plastic hose that you can place in the hole.  Then all you have to do is slowly depress the plunger to fill the trans back up.

Hopefully, someone out there will know the name of this device.

I hope Red Line doesn't smell like the mineral stuff.  PeeeYeeew!

WOW, that brings back memory's.

Here's the deal on changing the fluid in your gearbox:

Put the car up on stands and remove the left side rear wheel.

Drink a beer.

Remove the top (fill) plug first.  No need to dump the old fluid if you can't get new fluid back in.

Drink a beer.

Remove the drain plug.

Drink a few beers and/or surf the web while the old stuff drains.

After all the old stuff is out put the drain plug back in.  With the rear wheel off you will notice you have line of sight from outside the car to the fill plug.  Use a funnel and a couple of feet of tubing and pour in the new stuff.  If you have not already purchased the new oil, Swepco is wonderful stuff in our cars.

You will need to add oil until it starts to run out the fill hole.  Once that happens put the plug back in and clean up any oil that ran down the side of the case or dropped onto the ground.

Drink a beer.

Put the rear tire back on and put the car back onto the ground.

Drink the rest of the beer.....

Does it take one person to hold the funnel(another beer), another person to hold the tube(another beer) and me to pour the oil(My beer!).  Oh yes another to open the oil(beer).  Thanks to all for the tips.  My Heinekein guy is going to love me!!

You can also go to Pep Boys and buy a universal pump that goes into a gallon container, works pretty well and no mess. I would also go with swepco or at least flush the system with some cheaper fluid inbetween the current and Redline if it has been a while, I just use castrol as otherwise your new fluid, with new detergents, will clean everything up and you will have contaminated fluid again.
