make sure that you check the prices for the dealer to mount/balance the tires.  My history is that they will charge SIGNIFICANTLY more $$ if you don't buy the tires through them.  Also, what area are you in?  There is probably a reputable installer near you.  My installer charges me $20/tire.  The first and only tire a dealer installed tires for me, I think they charged over $35/tire.

I am located in Emmaus and my local dealer is Knopf. They quoted me $100 for the set and actually suggested I go through Tire Rack.  They also recommended a $150 alignment when installing the 4 tires but I am hesitant on the alignment because of a post in the PCA tech section where they stated that if you don't have a problem do not get an alignment as it is possible for them to cause a problem where none existed before.

I would also like state how amazing and helpful this site has been.  The quick responses and interest shown has impressed me to no end.  This resource is enough reason for any Porsche owner to join the PCA and RTR. Thanks so much.

Wayne, I agree with most of your post except the section listed above. My car came with Michelin Pilot Sport with code N0. I can by the same tire with or without the "N" coding. I opted to get "N" tires when I replaced them.

I'm not sure what to make of your comment about the tire though and am a little confused. I'm not sure how you can get the same tire with and without the N code. Is the part number different? Are the specs different? Was the price or part number different?

The code variation suggests there's a significant difference that we're not seeing... either that, or it's a marketing ploy. Smile

Did you manage to get an explanation from anyone as to why you can buy the tire with and without the code?

If the part numbers and specs on the tire are the same, then that undermines the whole point of the N-rating.
