- fasthonda - 09-17-2007 hi fellow RTR track junkies!  i'm just back from Mid Ohio (four day races!!!).    here's my ReidSpeed report: personally, i LOVE Mid Ohio as a racetrack; i think it is the most difficult racetrack i have ever raced on; demands a very good driver; never gives you a break, or any rest -- i love love love it!!!! but ---- my Probenstien HATE HATE HATE HATES IT!!!!!! the 'Stien just isn't good at this track; way way way too many transitions and slower turns; tight turns, etc. you can see on the vid below that i have to wait and wait and wait and wait before getting on the power. if i get greedy, its even worse; mega wheelspin and push to the outside. Crazy Joe (Nissan SE-R) and Dan Gardner (Scion TC) crushed me in the slow stuff.  the 2006 Civic SI of Brian Shanfield was fast everywhere, especially powerwise.   i am VERY strong under braking (ReidSpeed Big Brake Kit rules!!!), and can hold my own on the high speed turns (like in T1 and at the top of Thunder Valley. but all the rest of the slow speed stuff is like being in a penalty box for me and the 'Stien.....) my Probe, in PTE class (there were 14 or 15 starters on thurs), was equiped with the following for this race: 1. take one stock 1993 Ford Probe. add a cage and belts and kill switch and window nets. 2. eibach prokit front springs. 3. addco rear swaybar 4. hotshot header 5. remove cat 6. straight pipe exhaust 7. iceman intake 8. underdrive pulley 9. fuel press regulator 10. ReidSpeed front BBK 11. hankook z214 225-50-16s 12. ballast up to 2735 lbs min weight. my qualifying point count (average finishing positions from the friday and sat races) had me in P2; Dan took the inside coming down to the green flag (he wouldn't say which way he wanted to line up; he told me he would hand signal at the last minute). i was on the outside. i read the flagger perfectly and got a good start. i lead for the first freaking lap!!!!!! then, well, screw it -- watch for yourself! : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8348236916895173772&hl=en hope you enjoy!!!! todd driver of #11 PTE Ford Probe GT. fourth at NASA Nationals PS the black 2006 Civic SI (Brian Shanfield) was incredibly fast. sick sick sick fast. he destroyed me, and Dan, and Crazy Joe. i've never heard of a stock one being so fast (it was a complete SSB car, with the addition of springs and shocks and a muffler). and i was just about ready to help Joe ram that freaking BMW out of the way!!!!! (the BMW and the green Miata were modded more heavily; they were PTD cars).
