For those of us that haven't been on the main circuit yet with the new surface I thought this might help. So far this is the best one I could find. I was talking with a few of the guys from Potomac at last weekend's DE, for the most part they favor the new surface, eventhough it was laid down in only a couple of days. Anyway enjoy the video.

Here is a Boxter at Summit with cool instrumentation readout.

Looked like they were both on a Sunday drive

Need more noise and traffic

The cars are too quiet

Is that a Traqmate instrument data acquisition readout?

Yes, that is Summit and a traqmate, but old pavement.  I have a full HD widescreen session of SP from 3 weeks ago, but will not edit until we get back this weekend.  Potomac was there last week and the word is when it's cold, the grip is way down compared to the initial repave.  Still much smoother than before, especially T1 and the carousel.

Bob, that is exactly what I was being told this past weekend when I went out to SP to look at the new surface with some of the Potomac guys.

Which video system would you suggest?  I don't really want to use a digital camera that needs NEW batteries every 10 minutes.

Thanks

George,  A couple of options:   Mini DV (hd format) will last about 110 minutes without a recharge and or battery.  Hard drive, Archos 60 Gig unit with a bullet camera.  The Archos can be hard wired and will work until you run out of memory.  I can fit an entire track season on a hard drive.

My advice for Summit is stay on the track.  The outer edges of the track are very soft and will make spins more likely when you put a wheel off.

Bob,

Thanks for the cam info, and see you there!

ask and you shall receive! no sunday drive for me:

here is the NASA weekend the day after they finished paving the track! this is Sunday's smallbore race. i qualified 1st in PTE, with only PTD and H4 cars in front of me. i finished first in PTE both days, and moved from 2nd to 1st in championship points, clinching the championship on the last race of the year!!!:

the track is almost 2 secs a lap faster for me, in my ford probe, compared to before it was repaved.

i was doing a lot of defensive driving at the end, so my lines would not be what i would consider 'the perfect DE line'! Tongue

see you all down there tomorrow!!!

todd

PS i'll be instructing only; not bringing a car this time Sad
