I thought some might be interested in this;

I still wonder where this is going to take Porsche 10 years from now.

VW has issues and I wonder if it will infect Porsche. Not likely unless they become a single company and I don't see that happening any time soon, but still worth pondering.

I thought the comment of “Porsche is very good at running a niche car company,? said Adam Jonas, an analyst at Morgan Stanley in London. “That doesn’t necessarily extrapolate into running one of the world’s largest car companies.? was basically the heart of whether the company will have future success.

Info from Porsche Germany Regarding the Volkswagen takeover from the Porsche Club WorldWide Newsletter.

"But Porsche has also made good progress in a completely different field, having now increased our stake in the Volkswagen Group to almost 31%. This brings our long-established partnership with Europe’s largest car manufacturer that much closer. Together, we hope to successfully overcome future challenges for the benefit of both partners. Despite this close partnership, Porsche will always be Porsche, and Volkswagen will always be Volkswagen. To ensure that this is the case, we have restructured our company, creating the Porsche Automobil Holding SE as an umbrella group, to provide strategic management of both Volkswagen AG and Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. That will allow Porsche to continue its successful operations independently and forge ahead undeterred in its established role as a manufacturer of premium sports cars."

Seems to me Porsche has got their act together way more than I thought. They have been for the last year, year and a half the most happening auto company in the world with its parts sharing programs, dealer training and support, car allocations allowing dealers for the most part get what they need. Appears as though they plan on being that way for some time to come. I hope they don't fall into the same trap that Mercedes got into when they got in bed with Chrysler. I don't know that much about the VW people just that Shelly and I put some hard miles on our Jetta before we needed something that would work better for 2 carseats.

Time will tell.

I assume this is how Porsche will be able to comply with the new CAFE standards - as part of VW. Frankly, I never understood how they have complied until now - is there an exemption for limited production?
