good morning, fellas!

i've been hard at work trying to drum up some support for the civic;  for this event, i think the civic would give me the edge i need....  (lighter weight;  i keep thinking about the lighter weight on those tight back roads;  under 2200 lbs with me in it is really light, compared to just about everything else that'll be running;  most are over 3000 lbs).  the Ariel Atom being the lightweight of the bunch....

here's some upcoming dates (they moved the venue for the track observation day to Pocono):

Dynamometer Day - Saturday April 10th from 9AM to 4PM - Hudson Historic's in Ossining, NY
Track Day - April 23rd from 8:00AM to 5:00 PM - Pocono Raceway

May 21st and 22nd - New Hampshire
June 11th and 12th - New York
June 25th and 26th - Pennsylvania
July 16th and 17th - Maryland
July 30th and 31st - Virginia
August 20th and 21st - North Carolina
September 10th and 11th - South Carolina
September 24th and 25th - Tennessee
October 15th and 16th - Georgia
November 5th and 6th - Louisiana

if you check out the home page at www.robinhoodrally.com they recently put up some pics of last weeks screening;  most of them are of the cocktail party the second day.  i was standing in the back, as they were awarding the 'congrats, you've been picked to participate' awards (i'd been given mine immediately at the end of my interview the day before).  in the 2nd picture down, you can see two of the secret panelists in the backround - Frank Markus, editor of Motor Trend, and Charles Hendrickson, one of the hosts of Pinks All Out.   in the last pic you can see me, lurking in the backround, and thinking things like 'i wonder if i should set the car up with only 3 degs of static camber, or my usual 4.5 degs?....'   Smile

i'd definitely love to hear more about the MAW possibility;  sounds like it would be a great way to really generate some monies for the Make-A-Wish!

oh, and i'll most definitely be the 'underdog', no matter if i take the Civic or the Probe!!!

This is awesome.  I remember your Civic at the Glen when i was there last summer (my only track day ever) and you were FAST in that thing.

Tony told me to check this out and i too am interested in pitching in via my business and RTR sponsor, The Wright Agency.

Awesome!!!!

Todd,
Can I have your permission to write this up for Der Gasser?
Thanks.

Todd,
Looking over the web site details of the "Robin Hood Rally", I see that You will be running AX style runs. 6 runs at every site. Here, autocross experience is a MUST. I am no expert, but I have done a lot of AX, and would not mind trading lessons with you,,,,,,,, I coach you in AX specifics, and you coach me in track. Wink You have to drive the course before you drive the course.

I marked my calendar for your Pocono track day. I might be able to go up to see the action and we can talk.

YEAH!! I think the red RTR badge needs to be there! I'd pitch in and think it would be a great fund raiser!

Todd, awesome news - kick butt!!!

hi nick!

thanks for the support and the offer! of course, you do know that you are talking to the GS (the original Probenstein!) and BS (GMC Syclone) SCCA Phila region champion..... Smile that was many moons ago..... and yes, it is gonna be AX style, except no walkthrough. just figure it out and get 'er done!!!

thanks lainey; i'll be doing my best and representing RTR!

I think the Porsche club sponsorship would be perfect for club image.  The world sees us as the wine and cheese crowd which in RTR is as far from reality as you can get.  Sponsoring the underdog in non-porsche would be very cool!

thanks guys!

i really like the 'make-a-wish' angle;  i'd have very ample opportunity to mention it often on camera;  plus, who doesn't pull for the car/driver that is racing in the name of a charity?  especially a charity that is so special such that is make-a-wish?

i started up the turbo honda (first time in a LONG time!) and of course it roared to life immediately (didn't even have a dead battery!).  hondas are like that!  Smile   the guy that does my engine tuning and setup has agreed to spend as many days as needed on the car to convert it to E85 fuel (we've got the 750cc injectors, and fuel pump, and associated parts already), and make sure that the driveability and maps are perfect for this type of race (no holes in the maps and no stumbling or problems).  he'll do it for free, and is just asking for a few decals to be put on the sides of my car....  he wants to work on the midrange, and the area under the curve, and make the car a monster coming out of the tight turns.....

i'm always thinking about the RHR race now;  it is pretty much occupying most of my mind most of the time;  i can't wait for the first race in may!  (gotta go to the dyno day in april and then the track day at pocono first though).

i'm curious to see how folks perform at the track day at pocono though, to be honest!
