As for the hourly rate - Holbert's rate of $90/hr isn't a problem for me, the time they book for jobs becomes the problem - I refer back to the replacement of my MAF. I'm big on honesty and booking a 15 minute job for 75 minutes just stretches credibility - unfortunately, I'd only had my car 2 weeks and didn't know that the MAF was sitting right there in plain view and easy to change when I took the car in. It reinforced what I'd been told about them prior to taking my car to them.

Galbraith charges $92/hr for labor. But again, they let you into their garage b/c that also serves as their office. I dropped off the car one day for an oil change and they let me watch the entire thing. I'm sure for most of you techies out there that's no big deal, but for someone who is trying to learn as much as possible about his pride and joy (after my daughter of course) it was an enlightening experience. Who knew that the oil had to be drained from two different spots?
I know I would have never learned that at Holbert's.

I can see this how this can get way off the subject. Alot of folks will only go to a dealer for work done to their car, it's easy for them due to a multitude of conveniences, some folks will go only for what's covered under warranty & will not spend a dime of their own money at a dealer. Then there are others who avoid dealerships like the plague, that used to bother me but I understand the reasoning. Most times it's not the case but I do understand. There are very good dealerships & there are not so good dealers, it's our job to patronize the businesses that we like & not go to the ones we don't. Sturgedm, if your happy with your current dealer, I suggest that you stay with them. If you are in one place and your car is in another, why not just flat bed your car to & from. I have several clients cars that I will flat bed in because they live in Washington & work in Philly or NYC. Piece of cake dude, or why not just tip a valet to go to pick up your car & take it back to the dealership for you & when its done tip him to take it back to your home.

No duh, Wally. I was just using the train example as one of my reasons for liking the locations of those two shops.
Now for Corvette work, does the shop throw in a free polish for all of the owners gold chains? Perhaps a chest hair perm?

Wally - thanks for the Bob Fox tip in Ambler. Just got my car back. Not only is he nestled perfectly between my home, work and garage, I had a great experience. Bob loves to talk about cars (especially porsches) and since he charged a whopping $55.00 for state inspection and emission, I think I found my new service center.
Hopefully I won't need him that much!
