I just noticed in an ad for the NT05 that it has a treadwear rating of 200. The NT01 has a 100 rating. MPSCs are at 80.

I don't think the NT05 will be for me.

I ran Kumho MX which has a treadwear rating of 200. I hated these tires. Not nearly as much grip as my Nitto NT01s, and terrible sidewall flex.

Quote:Sorry to burst the bubble on the NT-01's... but I was not that impressed. My MPSCs stuck much better (once up to temp) and lasted more than 50 heat cycles before going off. Yeah, the MPSCs cost a bit more, but the performance and life-span was amazing. My NT-01's lost almost 50% of their tread in one weekend (granted it was Jefferson) and then caused my wreck at the Glen (okay, maybe it wasn't the tires, but I'm superstitious and won't buy them again).
I couldn't agree with you more... My Nitto's have not held up well at all. I've worn out the outer edges of the tires in just two weekends, they are noisy as all get out and the MPSC's are FAR superior to anything else I've been on. They wear like IRON and their grip is phenomenal. The MPSC's seem to heat up just fine and the grip is amazing when they do. I won't buy Nitto's again either - they made it easy too because they don't have the 996 Porsche 18 standard sizes 225/40 or 285/30.

Chris,
That information was not available with the inital press release. I'm a bit disappointed. That being said, a 200 treadwear rating would at least bode well for the novice student driving their car to the track. I'll be very interested in hearing first hand reports once the tires are released and they get some track time.
