- jakp993 - 02-18-2007 I heard some rumors of changing the "group" hotel for Summit based events. Seems the Hampton in Winchester no longer allows us to congragate in the lobby/dining area in the evenings. Something about the amount of wine that's consumed ![]() Have we decided on an alternative? It would be great if we could find something in the Charlestown area as that would cut :20 off the drive down. Jack - catchacab - 02-19-2007 The Hotels in Charlestown are at best a dump. There are many hotels along 81 within a few exits of Winchester. - Phokaioglaukos - 02-20-2007 Maybe we could move to the Hampton Inn at Innwood, WV? Might take them some time to toss us out. - jim booth - 02-20-2007 They built a new holiday inn express in charles town,I have not stayed there yet. It is next to horse track/slots. C town has many more food options than Inwood. - APXD 30 - 02-25-2007 Great place, a little far (20 miles) from the track but very nice and reasonable: http://www.bavarianinnwv.com/accomodations/index.html - catchacab - 02-25-2007 There is another Hampton Inn and a Wingate Inn at the next exit after the current Hampton Inn and Shoneys that we currently stay at. I have a friend that stays at the Wingate and said it is nice. There are also many places to eat at that exit (Ruby Tues, Chilli's, etc) - smankow - 02-25-2007 I've stayed at the Hampton in Inwood and it's nice (especially for WV). It opened about 1 1/2 years ago. It's closer to the track than Winchester and also a shorter drive by about 20 miles. The downside is the limited number of restaurants. You need to drive up to Martinsburg or down to Winchester for options. - JeffConklin - 03-04-2007 Any other suggestions??? Jeff - Phokaioglaukos - 03-04-2007 I have reserved the Hampton Inn at Inwood, WV. It's nice, good breakfast, very friendly staff and WiFi. - smankow - 03-04-2007 That is where I'm staying, too. |
