- bobt993 - 11-29-2007 Brian, that is not the issue discussed on the PCA forum. It has to do with the rear links and one of the bushings in them. Joel Reiser found it to be an "undiscussed subject" with PCNA, but that the replacement links are different and remove the intermittent situation that can happen. Joel has run numerous 993 platforms in club racing including a 993 Cup. A great guy with unlimited knowledge. This month's Panorama has this 993 issue discussed in the Tech Forum. Check it out and just make sure your car is not affected. - Brian Minkin - 11-29-2007 Bob, I was offering the steering rack advice in addition to the early 993 rear link issue. Yes it has been addressed in my car. - ninjabones - 11-29-2007 I can't seam to find the Nov. Pano. Can you give me the reader's digest version of this issue, so I can make sure this is addressed while the entire suspension is diassembled? - bobt993 - 11-29-2007 Glen, you can contact Joel Reiser on the PCA website in the tech forum. If you search the forum, you will find this issue already addressed for other PCA members. - Brian Minkin - 11-29-2007 There was suspension geometry changes in 1996 that addressed a rear bump steer that could make you loose control of the car. The following rear suspension parts were revised for 1996: 1- 993.331.041.02 A-arm L 1- 993.331.042.02 A-arm R 2- 993.331.045.03 Kinematic link L&R 2- 993.331.047.03 Camber link L&R 2- 993.331.131.06 Subframe arch L&R Some also suggest replacing the rear bushing of the lower arms with a monoball. The front bushing is already monoball. - catchacab - 11-29-2007 I have the JIC/Cross set up on my 993, and am very happy with it. PSS9 is no more now it is PSS10 system. The advantage to the Cross system over the PSS9/10 systems are the camber plates are included. Spring and strut rates are custom. My car has the 8/12K (450lbs front/ 674lbs rear) set up, and is 95% track use. If I was going to use the car on the street I may have chosen the softer 7/11 or 7/10 set up. the 7/10 set up is is firmer at max then PSS9's. A friend drove home my car from the Glen this year. We set the struts to full soft. He equated the ride quality to his 2001 Boxster S (stock suspension). Basically the Cross system is has greater digestibility for ride height and firmness. I wouldn't be too concerned about the warranty. If Bill hasn't installed the PSS9's yet, talk to Steve at Meehan Transmission, or Paul at Performance Automotive. They have experience with the system. Farnb/Loles is still installing the JIC system, and recommends it as of last week. Our club treasurer has the Cross system on his 996. If your car is going to be 95% street then the PSS9/10 are what you are looking for. If this is a track car for you then get the Cross system. - JAB993 - 11-29-2007 I am no guru but I can assure the PSS9's will get you to Black. On my car other than the PSS9's the rest of the suspension is stock with no other smodifications..........YET! Like you ,I have the BBS II which look good but are so heavy......anyone selling a set of Fikse's? Nice car by the way, I had seen it on E-bay. John - Tony356993 - 11-30-2007 Quote:anyone selling a set of Fikse's?Yes! But I do not know if the 993 turbo car offsets will fit you car. Fikse Profil 13's. Track dirty but cleanable. - Gorgon - 11-30-2007 Congrats Glen, great looking ride! Look forward to running with you again next season. Leon - bobt993 - 11-30-2007 Front offsets on the turbo fit, rear do not. |
