- APXD 30 - 02-09-2010 More advice. Take your next step into consideration. Case in point, I spent $60k on a tow vehicle and $3k on a trailer only to buy a race car with no windows=wet seat when towing in the rain. I also now rent a garage for the car. While I will probably address the window issue, the point is I should have thought about a tow vehicle capable of towing an enclosed (7700lb rating doesn't safely get me there). If I had it to do over, I would have looked into a pick-up for a higher tow rating, got an enclosed, and stored the car in the trailer. Just a thought from the future. Depreciation on an 8k mile Cayenne is a b*#@ch - Darren - 02-09-2010 True dat. You can't go too big as far as I'm concerned. I bought my 2005 3500 dually initially to tow a 2-car open trailer. Recently I went a little bigger yet -- I already had the truck for it anyway. A bigger truck will wear less (engine, trans, etc) and be much safer. Here's the new rig: ![]() - LouZ - 02-09-2010 Here is a site used by all of those drag racers. I found a new, untitled, open steel 18 footer on that site. At present, there are over 1000 used trailers being offered!
