- Phokaioglaukos - 11-18-2006 From another e-mail list: Great News for the T Bolt Raceway Team!!!! YeeeeeHaaaaahhh!!! Thanks to all your hard work and commuinications, Senator Lesniak has posted Assemblymen Van Drew, Albano, Fisher, and Burzichelli Bill A 1054, and also the Senator Asselta earlier senate version S 313, to be heard in The Economic Growth Committee on November 27th at 1 PM in Trenton at the State House Annex, Committee Room # 1. We thank each and every individual for doing their share to get this legislation moving. So now we must organize our troops to gather as many Green Flag Members and supporters to carpool, or even if we need to get a bus, to pack the senate committee room on November 27th with our team members and friends to assure the good senator that he is doing the right thing. We are nearing the finish line. For now, let's all take a quick breather for the weekend and start our best wheels moving forward on Monday the 20th toward the Monday November 27th Trenton hearing. With sincere appreciation Donald [Fauerbach] - Phokaioglaukos - 11-27-2006 From another list: Hello Green Flag Members and Friends Today was another very good day in the closing laps of our endurance race to see the green flag wave for an early 07 groundbreaking for Thunderbolt Raceway. With leadership testimony from Assembly Bill Sponsor Jeff Van Drew and Senate Bill Sponsor Nick Asselta, our sports entertainment district legislation was released unanimously today from the senate economic growth committee to the full senate for an upcoming vote in december. The senate committee agreed on a few minor changes to the legislation to further clarify the actual location of the sports district and to how the funds must be used for infrastructure for the project, all of which requires a concurrent vote from the full assembly and full senate, to which we believe will occur in the first 2 weeks of december, and then the bill goes to governor corzine for his signature, which the governor has assured us he will do. We owe great thanks to our district legislators and adjoining district legislators for their tenacity in seeing this high profile legislation to this point in time. In addition, and we must say "WOW," and thanks to all the green flag members, union leaders, business leaders, and public officials who made the trip to trenton today to support project thunderbolt. There was standing room only in the hearing room with at least 60 supporters in the room. Senator Lesniak, who chairs the committee, opened his remarks by saying he "has never seen so many people committed to a bill" as he has witnessed for this legislation. Those words coming from a veteran legislator speaks volumes toward the combined efforts of everyone involved in this process. Senator Asselta praised Mayor Quinn and the millville city commission for their leadership and endurance over the last 8 years in seeing the project come this far. We also wish to express our appreciation to Tim McDonough from the success group for his representation as the NJMP government lobbyist. Tim has been working with the legislative leadership on this project for many months, and his efforts were quite apparent today. Let's keep our best wheels forward, and we will communicate soon regarding pending votes in the assembly and senate. - Mark Fox - 11-29-2006 Kudos Chris, for keeping everyone up to date on thunderbolt both here, thru e-mails and on rennlist. Your e-mail regarding Senator Lesniak allowed me to forward it to several friends who were unaware of thunderbolt but very interested in using the facility. Also thanks to steve and everyone else who took the time to attend the meeting in NJ. - Nick - 12-15-2006 Yesterday, the NJ Legislature voted its approval of the Sports and Entertainment District Legislation for NJ Motorsports Park!! In the General Assembly the vote was 48 in favor to 30 not in favor. The vote in the Senate was 32 in favor to 6 not in favor. We anticipate that Governor Corzine will sign the legislation into law before Christmas. We will invite the Governor to come to the Millville Airport for the official signing. We owe great appreciation and respect for the enduring efforts of our legislative leaders, Assemblymen Jeff Van Drew, Nelson Albano, and Doug Fisher. On the Senate side, we applaud the efforts of Senator Nick Asselta and Senator Steve Sweeney for their efforts in seeing the legislation through. Today was a monumental leap for project Thunderbolt, and although we all need to take a moment to enjoy this success, there remains much to do before we put shovels in the ground. We will keep you posted in the coming days and weeks. When you see or speak with our local, county, state and federal government leaders during the holidays, please let them know how much we appreciate their tireless efforts in this endurance race we have been participating in for so long. - smankow - 12-15-2006 this is great news, Nick. Thanks for the update Steve - Tony356993 - 12-15-2006 Way to go everybody! A nice present for all of us this holiday season. - Mark Fox - 12-15-2006 yipi!
