I'm trying to find someone who could help me replace the balance shaft and cam belts on my 1986 Porsche 944. I want to do the work rather than paying a repair shop. Do you know of anyone who would be willing to help?

Honestly, not really.  It is one of those involved jobs that take special tools, lots of time and some mechanical skill.  If you are very experienced, then with some research I'd say go for it.  Otherwise, I am not sure who is out there that would donate that much time and ability to someone who they do not know. Sad

I'd just go and put a SBC in it, have it installed in less time then changing the T-belt and shafts. I have done a few and they are not easy even for me. A real PITA have a pro do them you will thank your wallet you did.

Not exactly the help I was looking for, but thanks for the input.

Now come on guys, do you really need to attack the poster?  He was just soliciting some advice/help, and you folks are treating him like a leper.

Lighten up Francis....

So you are going to help him Chris? Big Grin

No one is treating Diver like a leper.  We are just trying to nicely explain that it is quite a job that he has in front of him, and it is better left to a professional unless he has a very good (and talented) friend who wants to help him.

And the proper tools. I have 3 tool box's full the kind you see in most shops upper and lower and I don't have enough to do that job. Go to a P shop to get er done

Larry you did not know what a SBC or SBF is? You have been around P's toooo looongTongue
