We all love the ATX events has anyone thought about trying Hill Climbs. We have 3 in the area the one that is in our back yard is Reading, they have 2 events The Pagoda and the Duryea. I have been to both and they have classes for all types of cars. Can we get a hill climb group togeather like the ATX group?

Yes, that is one of the 3 in the area we have. Have not run there yet maybe this summer.
Have any snow there?

I am planning to run Pagoda and Duryea this year. I also am told Weatherly is a nice event and the hill was just repaved last year. More info can be found at:

The schedule this year is as follows:
May 29-30 Jefferson Track Trial (Level 3 TT) Summit Point, WV 1.1 mile track at Summit Point Raceway.
June 12-13 Weatherly Hillclimb Weatherly, PA Weatherly is just south of Hazelton, PA
June 26-27 Pagoda Hillclimb Reading, PA Pagoda is the short version of Duryea in the City Park of Reading.
July 10-11 Giant's Despair Hillclimb Laurel Run, PA Giant's is located near Wilkes-Barre, PA.
July 24-25 Rose Valley Hillclimb Trout Run, PA Rose Valley is above Williamsport, PA off of Rte. 15.
Aug. 7-8 Polish Mountain Hillclimb Flintstone, MD Polish is about 1 hr west of Hagerstown, MD.
Aug. 21-22 Duryea Hillclimb Reading, PA Duryea is the longest hill of the series at 2.3 miles.
Sept. 4-5 Jefferson Track Trial (Level 3 TT) Summit Point, WVSept. 18-19 Weatherly Hillclimb Weatherly, PA

Hill climbs are not as mellow as AX. They have some real risk and danger. Far more then DE or even club racing in my opinion.

That being said I am planning on organizing a group to attend the Duryea Hill Climb in August as spectators. It will be on the RTR Social Schedule.

I am planning on running the Pagoda in June and hopefully the Duryea. Might need some crew help if anyone is interested.

You really don't need anybody to crew, but if you have a cooler full of brew, i'm sure you can get someone.
The event is very lax, and you can take naps between runs. It is more like a pic nic with some occasional driving. Really, I have done these in the past and there are some hard core old timers with all kinds of home built rigs that are fun to watch. But as Brian said, very dangerous and intimidating having those trees and guardrails wizzing by your periferal vision in a blur. If you have a nice car, you'll probably drive 5/10th, if you drive a junker, maybe 8/10ths. The driving part is very strict though......... a full race car prep is REQUIRED: extinguisher, kill switch, net, or arm restraints, full race suit with underwear, buclavah if you have a beard like me, 95 degree with 80% humidity to go with it, and the HOT DOG vendors down around the paddock area.This type if hillclimb resembvles most closely to the european rallies.
