1995 993 GT4S Widebody Race Car / Brand New Dawe 3.8L Race Engine - ninjabones - 06-30-2013

It is with mixed emotions that I list my beloved 993 race car for sale. In short, this is a turn-key, consistently front-running, low mileage (37,900 on chassis), Polar Silver 1995 993, with recent (2012) RSR wide-body conversion, brand new state-of-the-art Motec 3.8 liter Dawe race engine, fresh Dawe short-gear g50 transmission, and fresh/rebuilt JRZ triple adjustable motorsport dampers, and ready-to-race at the front in PCA and NASA club racing programs.

As many of you know, this is a well-known car in the PCA and NASA racing community, and an obsession of mine over the past 6 years of ownership. I have every receipt since new to prove that this is truly a “no-expense-spared” build (over $100,000 spent in the last year alone). The following individuals were involved in various stages of the development of this car: Peter Dawe (Dawe Motorsports), Bill Dougherty (Dougherty Automotive Services), Jeff Gamroth (Rothsport), Tom Chan & Mike Levitas (TPC Racing), Mitch Piper (Piper Motorsports), Bob Turgeon, among others (“it takes a village”).

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to perhaps take a break from motorsports at this level for a period. Three small children and competing interests have prevented me from taking full advantage of this amazing car. Purchased in November of 2007 from the second owner, the car was an immaculate low mileage (23,000 miles) example of an early, 1995 Polar Silver 993 (originally owned by Tim Lombardi of Penske Racing while in Reading, PA). I have developed the car gradually in stages in parallel with my skill development and the motorsport learning process (Webster definition of “slippery slope”). In its current form, the car represents my interpretation of a modern Porsche 993 RSR factory racecar, poised to dominate in PCA GT4S and NASA GTS racing (PCA and NASA logbooks).

The state-of-the-art, ground-up, Motec, 3.8L Dawe race engine (custom Rothsport intake and exhaust) was just completed on 5/28/13 and currently has only 4 hours on track (one DE day for Motec tuning, and two days at the recent PCA Watkins Glen Club race last month). The cost of the engine alone was over $60,000; the Dawe short-geared custom transmission has 8 running hours since tear-down and refresh ($12,000 initial build, not including Tilton clutch, flywheel and Porsche Motorsport LSD), the JRZ triple adjustable motorsport dampers (>$10,000) have 8 hours since full rebuild by TPC ($2,100); more than $15,000 was spent in bodywork/paint in the past year for the wide-body conversion (EVO II front bumper with clear bra, GT2 tail with Dawe uprights and banana wing, clubsport flares, Getty fiberglass doors); more than $2,000 spent last winter on “big red” upgrade with new factory parts (TT front / RS rear calipers); Gyrodisc front rotors/hat, brand new rear rotors and Pagid pads all-around; new Porsche factory electro-hydraulic RSR power steering pump installed 3/8/12 with custom Dawe trunk mount kit (>$2,000); master fabricator Mitch Piper built the cage and painted polar silver with clear bra ($6,000), SPA fire suppression, fresh Schroth Profi-II 6-point harness (2012); two sets of forged one-piece custom wheels designed by John at CCW purchased 2/12 with 10” x18” fronts, 11.5” x 18” rears with perfect offsets ($6,000); sticker set of Hoosier A6 tires (285/35/18 & 315/30/18, $1,300), one set with 8 heat cycles, 3 spare R6s with 6 heat cycles, and sticker set of Hoosier Wets ($1,300) , IQ3 Dash data logger ($1,500 plus USM, and throttle, brake, steering angle sensors); Coolsuit; radio harness; the list goes on (see details below).

The car has proven to be extremely reliable and bullet-proof over four seasons of PCA and NASA racing, with only two DNF’s (half shaft failure at VIR, heavy rain and foggy windshield at Summit Point). I bought the car in 2007 with 23,000 miles. Odometer currently reads 37,928 miles; the majority of those 14,000 miles during my stewardship have been on the track or on the way to/from the track (the car was a dual purpose street/track car until 2009). I have kept records on just about every run session with set-up sheets, time sheets, data files, and video. I also have every receipt on the car since new (including window sticker). I am glad to share all data, video, and set-up information, and I would offer (if desired) to spend a day at NJMP to review data and provide coaching.

As might be expected in a competitive car that is raced hard, I have had a few “scrapes”. I am glad to discuss and review each incident in detail and explain the quality of the repair work (which always resulted in another “upgrade”).

If any of you have driven a purpose-built 993 race car, you know that it is an extremely rewarding and engaging car to drive. This vehicle is truly at the tip-of-the-spear and positioned to compete at front in PCA GT and NASA GTS club racing. Attached video from the Watkins Glen club race last month (coming soon) clearly demonstrated that this car has a decided power-to-weight advantage over Dan Yonker’s dominant GT4S car. The car runs at 2784 lbs in GT4S trim (1/8 tank, 200 lb driver, 90 lbs ballast, and 30 lb cool suit); bone dry the car is sub-2,500 lbs. Although the driver was a bit rusty, the car represented the first honest competition to Dan’s current GT4s domination (and deserved 2012 PCA national points champion). If the car doesn’t sell by the end of the month, I will likely participate in the NJMP ARCA race, and hopefully prove that this car can best the field.

Car offered at $65,000 (spares package $3,000) Contact seller via email ninjabones at aol dot com

Congratulations on the sale of your car. I'm sorry that you had to for whatever reason sell the car but I'm glad for you that the car was not on the market long.
