Just finished three days at the Glen with Trackmasters. This is a for-profit group that runs much like a PCA DE for students but they also have open track for advanced drivers. I have not experienced their training program for novice and intermediate drivers, but my impression is that someone who had been in white for a few events with RTR could pass their open track check ride. I did last Friday morning, and then had open track for the three days. Friday was open track only, so we had seven hours to go out and come in as we pleased. Satuday and Sunday they had intermediate classes (with two hours of track time with instructors), so we only had five hours of track time. I burned a LOT of gasoline and did many laps.

It was good practice for me to enter and exit a hot track and to adapt to many faster drivers. There were a half dozen race trucks there and many cup cars, a Stohr, a Radical and the like. I also had a lot of time to try different lines, and it was great to be able to come in hot and take tire temperatures.

The RTR DE program is great training, and I am eager to have some of our instructors ride with me at the Glen again soon, but do consider Trackmasters also. It's a well run open track opportunity.
