On balance, it would seem that a CaymanS is a good way to go. I'm inclined to hold out until the 2010 release... the downside here is that I won't be able to run with you all at '09 DEs. Sad I'll use the time to get training at Bertil Roos, and perhaps attend one of their race weekends if the experience is good.

BTW George, Great article! -E

Eric,

Just drive the S550 at the track for one season!

Love it when a plan comes together!......

Do they make kiddie helmets?  Can then use the S550 to take them 'round the track..

My brother-in-law has a 2008 S550.  It is a house!  It is quick though.  You can make an espresso at the in-board cappuccino machine going around turn 1 at Pocono.

George:

Sharp car!  Looks to be in very good shape.  I bet it's a hoot to drive

Eric:

I ran almost all the DEs this year (missed Jefferson while on vacation).  Clearly, the TT is great fun and the torque is addictive but you're right...time to work on skill.  Besides, I don't want to trash the turbo too much and swapping out seats, putting in roll bar etc. etc...makes for a less than perfect DD.  So it's time for... TRACK CAR!!!

What are you talking about Kenny? My car is a perfectly comfortable daily driver (as long as you have earplugs and a mouthguard)

Aaron:

You're right the car is impressive from a technology (it's like Knight Rider in the cockpit!) and ride perspective, the trade off being that you're isolated quite a bit from steering/ driving inputs....  I think I need a chauffeur!

Ken:

Keep me posted on your search, maybe you'll consider a CaymanS as well?  I think a group PCA discount is in order.....

Join www.Caymanclub.net  There is a wealth of information about the Cayman on there.

Glen,

Your car would be a perfect DD, it's got a certain...I dunno, panache?  But certainly you can see I'm trying to justify a second carCool.

Eric,

The Cayman is certainly a well-balanced car, but I wonder about it's track-worthiness without some mods.  Certainly it can be done, not arguing that.  I admit I have a thing for 911s and the GT3 seems to fit the bill...a car built by the factory for weekend  track junkies.  We'll see.  As far as a group discount, I think you can use your German influence to facilitate thatWink

We'll see...  Heading back to the factory in January.  BTW Ken, the revised GT3 is due for release later 2010.  Keep us posted on your search!  -E
