I have seen this over and over since 2007.  I have tried to enlarge the size to see the lugs and nuts.  It looks as though they are sheared and the chance of that happening to all wheels at once makes me think it was staged.  The only way I can see it happenning is if the lug nuts are all to large for the studs and with the sticky tires when they release they let the wheels shear the studs. But if they are the proper lug nuts even if they are not tightened to spec I do not think it could happen that quickly to all the wheels.

can you tell that it happened at an AUTOCROSS?

tech inspections are very lax, and besides, they DO practical jokes like that to be on Youtube.

The driver of the car got new track wheels/tires but they didn't get lugs with the wheels. The place that provided the lugs gave him the wrong pitch. The lugs were torqued to 80ft-lbs with an impact wrench. The driver wouldn't have known that anything was wrong until they sheared.

This is in the comment field of the video and is what I had heard at the time it happened.... Confusedhock: Jeez Nick, I thought you knew everything? Wink
