Advanced DE Days

Hey guys, I've never been to an advanced run day, but I've been in White group for a while.  Does anyone have an example of what a typical schedule is for one of these types of days?  Are all of the run-groups typically on the track all day long?

I'm thinking about going to Friday's Pocono session in May.

Hi Chris,

Advanced DE days are open to white or higher run groups (and by special invitation).

We typically split the participants into two run groups roughly based on HP and experience levels.  Total track time is somewhere around 3 to 4 hours, which is more than most drivers need.  We are also running a PCA instructor training program in conjunction with the advanced day this year at Pocono.

I was trying to decide whether to share my dad's car (Mark - in Black group), or bring my own (finally!) car out for the first time.  Only issue is that at this point my car is stock.  No harnesses, etc...

Hi Chris,  Good to hear from you and congratulations on getting a car that is track worthy.  You can use your car if you want as long as it passes tech.  You will probably be put in the lower run group so you won't have to worry about the crazies in the upper group.  Say hello to your pop for me.  Hope you can make it.

advanced days are great at improving your skill. way back in the day, i remember getting over 250 miles on a pocono advanced day and it helped me tremendously.

on an advanced or open track day, you can work on 1 skill or 1 corner at a time and have many chances to try and apply different techniques. there is no rush to move quickly out of your comfort zone because you know there are many more laps to come and this lends itself to gradually progression of change.

slow change = safe change.

some of us were very slow to change.
