Jim,

Thanks for the offer of assistance, but I think I have it in hand.

The pan was a later version with the improved scraper as well as a baffle welded in but not the sleeve around the pickup. I'm putting all those things into a late model pan I'm installing now (sleeve included.)

I thought it was right handers that gave our cars problems? Anyhow it failed as I was exiting turn one. I had taken a late pass so took the corner on the inside, probably exacerbating the right hand turn effect.

I killed two motors in my 944 within 12 months.  First one was from excessive wear, the second one was due to oil starvation as I was coming out of Turn 1 at the Glen.  I will eventually put a new motor in,  but I will dry-sump ($$$$) it next time.

No, I'm pretty sure it's left handers that cause the problem.  Here's some pictures from Lindsey's installation manual.  Notice how the baffle is installed in the pan as shown below.

Without the baffle, all the oil sloshes to the drain plug side, which occurs on left handers.  This keeps a box of oil around the pickup which supposedly stops the oil starvation.  That hinge allows oil into the box, but slows the exit.  There already is the stock baffle on the other side.

The ring or sleeve prevents the pickup from sucking air on the sides.

A little bird told me you were selling to buy another 996, but glad to hear that wasn't the case. I've been waiting to see this monster on the track. Sorry I missed you at Lightning. Saw your car but never saw you.
