Double Race School

WASHINGTON DC REGION SCCA – PRESS RELEASE

The Washington D.C. Region is holding a three day Double-School March 19-21, 2010 at the Summit Point MotorSports Park in Summit Point, West Virginia http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/  Students may participate in one or both schools.  The entry fee is $450 for a single school/single certificate or $550 for the full double-school.  The first school will start with an orientation and flag test on Thursday evening 03/18, and will continue on Friday, finishing mid-day on Saturday. The second school will begin with an orientation and flag test on Saturday morning 03/20 and continue through the end of the day on Sunday. Both schools are open to those students who fulfill the GCR requirements and want to acquire their SCCA license. The school is also open to licensed drivers looking for further instruction. Licensed drivers must be approved by the chief driving instructor. Priority will be given to new non-licensed participants. All participants will have a personal instructor and be required to attend all debrief sessions.  Please visit  http://www.wdcr-scca.org/  for more information and to register. I'm planning on attending and have gone gone git me a SSM spec miata race car -- who else is coming??

I was planning on doing their winter school in November 09 and the Spring school in April 10 so was disappointed when the November school did not go ahead.

Looking forward to double school in March as v good value for money compared to 2 separate schools ... unless your car breaks down on day 1, you can't rent one as all booked..... and you end up missing both...... may have to take 911 to the track as a back up car  (nah, don't think so........) If/when I get my license, i plan to do 4 SCCA race weekends and 4 RTR DEs in 2010 ....and then probably jump over to NASA in 2011 as more track time .... and so I can be cooool like Darren & Bob ...... ;-)

now back from Washington DC region SCCA double race school this weekend - fantastic 3 days - learnt alot and passed the double school so now eligible to race at SCCA

I had a big advantage compared to most as familiar with the track and benefitted from 2 years of expert instruction from RTR DE instructors who are the best in the business ....so big thanks to all of my former instructors



link to video of 2 practice starts and a 5 lap race from race 2 below - watch as I make a total rookie mistake on practice start 1 by missing 3rd gear and losing alot of time ..... but I think i make up for it on practice start 2 and during the race

I hope I did RTR proud - my video is not called "I was 7th" .... but instead is entitled "I was 23rd....."
