hey guys -

i just got back from the races at Summit Point; had an awesome time! i missed friday, but was there on sat and sun. i got footage from both of sat's races, but sunday the camera malfunctioned Sad

i was running my Lotus Super Seven; it's powered by a 1600 Kent crossflow motor, which has been 'breathed upon' by R&W Enterprises. i'm still running a cast crank, and a mild cam, but it's a very nice motor and does a really good job (just see!).

sat's first race was a sprint race; i had asked to be put in Group 2, which is Vintage Big Bore. i got a good start and basically ran away with the race; the Tiger in front was super fast in the straights, but the owner was driving in this race (he had a hotshoe to drive in sunday's race). it's worth watching the whole vid if you enjoy seeing a bunch of different cool cars getting passed/lapped: http://www.vimeo.com/17271975

sat's second race was a mini enduro of 45 minutes. it was an 'all-comers' race, which meant that all the classes were welcome; that included small bore, big bore, and open wheel/sports racers. the start was a real mixup, til the crash in front of me. the course was blocked by tangled cars, which brought out the red flag. then the black, then the restart (straight out of the pits! weird! caught me totally by surprise). i edited out the long waits. after the restart, i fought it out tooth and nail for the lead with a Formula Ford. we swapped the lead over and over and over. finally, i came in for the mandatory 5 minute pitstop (plus i needed to get fuel; my Seven only has a 5 gal cell in it). right after i left the pits and restarted there was another crash that ended the race. the FF never came in for his pitstop! its a heck of a vid; enjoy!    http://www.vimeo.com/17273108

during that second vid, you'll see a TON of interesting small bore cars getting lapped by us; really really cool cars (we went through a SEA of them coming down the chute and out to T10. it was like rush hour!).

sundays Big Bore sprint race was really super; (god i wish the camera had worked) i started pretty far back in the pack; and worked my way up to 2nd place, quite a distance behind the Tiger (being driven by the pro). i was gaining, but it was going to be a few laps before i caught him. an incident brought out the black flag and we all came in (i was thinking 'yahoo!' cause now i'd be starting right with him). again, they 'green flagged' us right out of the pits, but this time i was ready for it; the Tiger and i drag raced straight down to T1 (damn that car is F-A-S-T!!!) everything he made up in the straights, i made back in the brakezones and twisties. i figured i'd get him for sure; i was all over him. and then a GT350 buried itself in the T1 sandbox and the race was done 2nd place. but it sure was an awesome race!!!!

hope you enjoy!

Todd, I enjoy your racing videos, especially the Turkey Bowl Vintage races.  It reminds me of my racing back in the day.  We never combined open and closed wheel cars but one of my most memorable races was a "Feature" race at Waterford Hlls whcih included the fastest 25 closed wheel cars.  This was a tight 1.5 mile course and it was fun to run my MGB against Shelby 350 GTs and small block Corvettes and a few Porsche 356 Speedsters.  I did beat most of them.
