Anyone bought tires there? Are they good? Is their pricing in line (i.e., within 5-10% of Tirerack, as opposed to wacky dealer-type prices)?

I've always bought tires from Tirerack and had them mounted by a local service station with a GSP9700.

Wow--what a facility! Huge Porsche business--they have many refinished wheels there, and their prices are better than anywhere else I've seen for basic stripping and refinishing. Tried to entice me to go for a machined lip and seal grey center, but I'm keeping the stock look.

Tire prices are a bit higher than Tirerack, but totally in the ballpark.

I hear Wilmington is a very nice town.  I would feel comfortable leaving my Porsche there overnight.  Wink

Heard good things about these guys over on the Del Valley BMW list. Got a good price to fix some curb rash on the 330ci wheels. My daughter took the wheels in and came away with exchange wheels. That was OK, but the price was more than 2x what I was quoted. Followed up by phone and got a credit that almost took the price down to what I was quoted, but the fellow who quoted the price (owner, I guess) just dodged me and had underlings do the talking. Bad taste in my mouth. Wheel weight fell of the replacement wheel a week later. More bad taste.

That said, others have have a great experience with them, I am told. I think they "just" tried to take advantage of a teenaged girl.

Well, turns out my used wheels are crap. One hairline crack and all four have axial play.

Start out looking forward to summer tires, end up going after a perfectly decent Porsche guy in small claims court. Bummer. Sad
