I have known Steve for over 14 years, first meeting him when he was doing SCCA autocross with the Philly region in a yellow Z06 with Frank Gonzalez. The two of them were responsible for getting me hooked on driving and they were always ideal role models. I remember the first event I went to, I had intended to just watch and they roped me in, saying, as long as you're here, you might as well drive. They handheld me through that first event and thousands of driving hours later, I'm still at it.

Years later, I met up with Steve at the track and found he was no less inspirational to me. I am shocked and saddened to hear the news. Our collective family has lost a great one. Lainey, I am so sorry and words cannot properly express these feelings. Steve's impact of the driving world is surely far reaching and he will not soon be forgotten.

Lainey,
No words can describe how many of us feel right now during this sad time. Steve was a good friend with a calming voice and presence (in the paddock, but not on the track). He will truly be missed. Please have some consolation knowing that Steve is in a much better place. Both you and Steve will be in our thoughts and prayers this holiday season. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
