Looking forward to next AutoX on 3rd Sep

As I made a deal with the devil (I mean Wife) that I won't do any track days in the new car (see photo below of old car), I'd like to do a few more Auto X events --- but the SCAA looks abit to professional for a newby like me...... so are there any other porsche club-like events where you just turn up with a helmet??

I went to Herschey autoX earlier this year - so will do that next year - but any others??

(i) other local porsche clubs --- are we in touch with them about such events

(ii) other local clubs - i'm ASSuming there must be corvette, bmw,  ??ferriari clubs - who may also run autoX's

I'm a newbie and am hoping to do an SCCA event this year. Who cares if they think I'm slow and lacking in precision.

I'm also intending to attend the Sept. 3rd event.

Here's some clubs nearby that you can check out. Newbies are always welcome to these clubs. Don't get intimidated... we all have to start somewhere.

NNJR PCA has autocross events and they give away nice plaques and also they have a lot of car classes. I like collecting plaques from them although the drive going there is a little bit of a hike.

http://www.phillyscca.com/solo2/index.html, their next event is August 27th in Warminster, PA, very nice location, big lot, fast and good grip.

within the SCCA, where are their classes listed?  How do you know the class as different classes run at different times (am/pm)

http://www.scca.org/Solo/Index.asp?IdS=0...&x=050|070&~=

Click on 2006 Solo Rules.pdf, Car classes is under Appendix A.

http://www.phillyscca.com/schedule/progr...e.htm#solo (full 2006 schedule) If you click on the location of the event, it should give you directions on how to get there. If you click on "Registration", it should give you the details of the event, which heat you will be running (http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmE...7028559687) This is the Warminster event. You have to find your car class first before you know when you are running. Heat 1 and 2 runs in the morning and Heat 3 & 4 runs in the afternoon. If you run heat 1, you work heat 2. They give away nice trophies at the end of the day Smile A big beer mug for first place and tall glasses for 2nd and 3rd. You can always ask people at the registration and they are very helpful in determining what class your car should be. There's not many Porsche cars that run at SCCA. I guess you have better chance of winning? It's worth checking out. They also have a lot of good instructors. IMO, they are the best Autocross club in the area. A lot of hardworking and dedicated people willing to help run the events.
