SWOYERSVILLE – Police believe an argument about missing pornographic DVDs led a woman to assault a man with a hammer early Thursday morning.
Nicole Labiosa, 24, of Lackawanna Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. She was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
Swoyersville police said the alleged assault happened around 2 a.m. at the rear of 51 Lackawanna Ave. According to the criminal complaint filed by Officer Robert J. Miller:
Labiosa told police she was just about to fall asleep when her neighbor Joseph Williams started shaking her air conditioner. The woman got angry and forced her way inside a garage where Williams resides. Williams pushed Labiosa outside of the garage. She smashed a door window and went to her apartment for keys to open the door.
After she opened the door, Labiosa confronted Williams with a hammer. She struck him several times in the face with the hammer and “wherever she could hit? before losing control of the hammer, the criminal complaint says.
Labiosa told police she then picked up a piece of broken glass and cut Williams several times on his body.
Williams initially told police someone broke into his garage and stabbed him. He later confessed to waking Labiosa out of bed and confronting her about missing pornographic DVDs, the criminal complaint says.
Williams was taken to a hospital for treatment for his injuries.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19.
