Glad to hear it is repairable!

Brian, did they have to drill out the bolt or was it easier than that? What's the repair technique?

Glad to hear it'll be ready by our last event!

Brian,

I'm assuming that you broke a case through bolt, which seems odd. Although anything can happen to a motor which sees as much DE time as you are doing.

Do you know which bolt broke? Was it on the top or bottom?  Which cylinder was it near?  To repair they have to take the heads and cylinders off to remove the broken bolt and replace.  I'd like to see the broken bolt.  Corrosion is typically not an issue because they live in a bath of oil. They hold the case halves together, but since there are about 18 of them, I would not expect just one to break.

Myles

Yes it was a case through bolt.  These are bolts that go through the case and have nuts  on the end. It was located at cylinder # 4 (right rear).  The engine is apart and we are replacing all the case through bolts with new factory parts. Also putting in new rings and of course a complete gasket set. Car is a Dougherty's and Paul Schwarts is doing the work. I will call Bill tomorrow and make sure he saves the parts but he usually does to show me what broke.
