You're right Joe, from a naturally abundant resource (coal), diesel is an answer.  But diesel fuel prices being what they are makes it a tough economic sell to the average consumer.  I also considered the ML350 Blue TEC.....MB's "Clean Diesel" SUV....$4,000 more than a standard ML350 (you are also eligible for a $900 tax credit), but the MPG only increased to 18/25.  HP was 210 and MB must be too ashamed to publish a 0-60 time because I couldn't find one.

Call me the anti-Kermit....because, at this point, being green just isn't swaying my car purchasing decisions.

Now if only I can perfect the "Flux Capacitor", I would really be in business.

Many of you are right. Joe Asher, also. My opinion is this: Electricity is great, all we have to do is plug in an appliance and it works, the power is coming from somewhere through a fairly thin wire. this power should be from a renewable source....... like wind and hydro. Sorry to say, but the French got something right with the cookie cutter nuclear electric plants. Diesels are fine, but why do we have to have 7 liter diesel engines in a pickup if larger european trucks run with engines 1/3 as big and delivering twice the mileage. European diesel fuel costs less than regular gas there, so why is diesel fuel cost as much or more than premium here? Hydrogen is a neat idea, we got plenty of it if we could just separate it from the oxygen cheaply, again, we need lots of juice.

Maybe a new law: No burning of fossil fuel one day a week for all, and no exceptions. That includes any form of electricity, natural gas, petroleum, etc........... but you can eat ALL the beans you want and use pedal power and put a wind mill on your roof.

IMHO, Americans will do NOTHING until their back is against the wall with no place to go while the rest of the world is advancing and surpassing the US in everything except hording.SadSadConfusedhock:

The 918? Ha! You got to be kidding me. My guess is that all the crack pot Porsche engineers have retired by now.Tongue
