I just purchased a new Bell Sport helmet and want to install HANS anchors (which I will remove from the helmet I have been using). The Bell has predrilled holes, which should make everything a bit easier. However, although there is foam padding on either forward side (by the chin straps) which is removed easily inasmuch as it is connected with metal snaps, the nutwashers that go on the inside of the helmet need to be located further back -- where there is relatively rigid material (perhaps called the "bead liner"?) attached to the helmet shell. That liner seems firmly attached to the shell (glue?) and I am concerned that if I try to pry it away from the shell (as generally instructed by the HANS installation instructions) in order to insert the nutwashers after lining them up with the holes (which I can't even see), I might crack or deform the liner or otherwise compromise its integrity. Any guidance/suggestions would be appreciated. (Where's Chris Karras, now that I need him again? :? )
Thanks,
Larry
