I am planning on doing a thorough maintenance of the ignition system including plugs, wire, rotors and distributor caps for my 1992  C2 (964)

I found a source which sells both the Bosch and the Beru distributor caps. The Beru is much cheaper by alsmost $40 each x 2 it's a saving of almost $80.

Now is there a major difference in performance/reliability between the two manufacturers. I know Beru has a long history of fabricating wires for Porsches, and Bosch is not too bad either. Would there be a reason for choosing the pricier Bosch over the Beru Unit?

Thanks

Stephan

Beru was a major supplier to Porsche back in the day, so I wouldn't think that their product would be markedly inferior to the Bosch parts. But if you really want to be certain, you need to ask an old-time Porsche mechanic, if you can find one anymore. Big Grin

The reason I am asking is that Pelican Parts supplies both parts, where the Beru is $40 cheaper. I was just wondering why such a big difference, in fact the Bosch is twice as much,....

Any though on distributor quality/built???

Thanks
