hi guys!
i just got back from the Turkey Bowl at Summit Point -- wow, what a good time! this is typically the last race of the season; a 'fun' race; no points or championship worries. they put all the modern and GT type cars in the same heat, and have different heats for the older Vintage/Classic racecars.... there were some super kick ass cool vintage cars attending this year; the coolest by far was a Porsche 908 racecar in Martini Racing livery; it looked absolutely 'time capsule' new; perfect condition. sounded awesome, too! (it was being driven very gently; about 3-4/10s i'd say). there was also an original Ford GT40 (was having tuning problems, but when running right sounded AWESOME). a Lola with 327 Chevy power was there and looked super sexy and was being driven quickly and well, too. there were many Mini Coopers, MGs, Triumphs, Alfas, Lotuses, etc etc also. TONS of eye candy!!!!
Friday was a practice day (i only did half of the practices; there was tons of track time). it was very very cold (maybe a high of 45?). and at night it got down below 20; several cars froze up and had to be thawed out Sat morning. Sat was a tiny bit warmer, but still not optimal for a 'fast' track. very good power weather, though!!! below is Saturday's race; it was a 15 lap Sprint race. i ran the Probenstien in PTE configuration, and was running an old set of Z214 C50 Hankook tires (this was their 9th day on the track). i finished 3rd overall, and was fastest in my 'class'; (i was considering my 'class' Jonny Allen in his Spec E30, Andrew Z in his H4 Integra, the 3 ITS Alfas (a 3.0 Milano and two GTV6s), and all the Miatas. running in our group was also a GT2 914, a Speed World Challenge GT BMW, and a Phoenix prepped Cobalt SS. other cars included an old Capri, and a passle of various VWs. lots of neat, different, fun cars. anyway, here is Sat's 15 lap sprint race:

next was Sunday's race (it got up into the low 50s on sunday; much nicer for humans!); it was a 30 lap race; that is a LONG Sprint race!!!!! after carefully looking over my Z214 r-comp Hankooks, i decided that they would probably have enough rubber left on them for VIR's Feb Full Course NASA race, so i took them off the car and put them back in the truck bed. i mounted up my street tires -- Z212 Hankooks; 200 treadwear. i knew this would slow me down signifigantly, but since it was only for 'fun' i figured it would give me a chance to play more with the other cars.... i think i drove better in that race than i ever have; i was holding with the fast cars in my class -- but i eventually slid back to 6th overall. i battled extensively with the Spec E30 BMW and the fastest two Miatas, and Andrew in the Acura. at times i had to drive very defensively, and the car was quite loose!!! here is the footage:

that 30 lap race was action packed the ENTIRE time! extremely close racing; door-to-door, and side-by-side thru just about every corner on the track, lap after lap! i was soaked with sweat by the end!!! it was a super AWESOME way to end up the year. i hope you enjoy the vids!
