I just got back from a 3-day weekend at Summit Point Main with the Potomac Region PCA, and thought I'd give an update on the highly debated conditions of the track.

Day 1
Was overcast, with occasional drizzle, and slight clearing in the afternoon.  My first impression of Day-1/Session-1 was:  "Oh great, the track is getting worse."  I was very disappointed and unhappy with the conditions.  As the day progressed, I focused less on the track conditions and more on having fun and learning new ways to go through some of the areas.

Day 2
Was sunny and clear with mild temps.  For some unknown reason, me and several other drivers agreed the track "seemed" better on Saturday.  Can't explain why, but the track seemed smoother and faster.  No doubt we were all having a good time.

Day 3
Sunday was a very mild and pleasant track day.  Everyone had a fantastic weekend and the track conditions were not even in anyone's conversations.

Maybe we were getting used to the troubled areas, maybe some of the temporary repairs improved the conditions... I'm not sure.  BSR laid down a mixture of sand and epoxy over the areas of the track that were falling apart and disintegrating.  More permanent repairs are to be done on or before the Labor Day SCCA race.

Turns of Concern
T1 (wash-board effect), T3 (not too bad), T5 (wash board and paving deterioration), T6 (same as T5).  Most found their own "line" through the troubled areas and worked around it.

There were no incidents the entire weekend, except for a few offs, but no big deal.
Overall . . . Yes, the track could be in better condition, but they have a plan in place for later this year.  My lap times improved over the few days I was there and I came away satisfied and look forward to supporting Riesentoter at Summit Point this coming Thursday and Friday.

Just my opinion.

Here's video of the track during a session in the Black Run Group on Sunday afternoon.  You may hit the pause button to get a better look at T1, T5 & T6.

My camera got loose from the mount during one of the turn-in's at T5.  That was not due to the bumpiness of the track, but my mount was not tightly secured.
