Any one have experience with the Cat Bypass from FabSpeed?  Any real world performance gain?  Should I just wait and get a full exhaust replacement?

I get mixed opinions on this constantly. The power gains are at best, barely noticable... and personally, I don't like the sound of aftermarket cats on Porsches.... Then again I haven't heard all of the different brands.

Personally, I think the value is in the cat-back system. They sound great, reduce weight and usually offer some small performance gain.

When I installed a complete Fabspeed system on my 993 including cat bypass I got more low end torque but I do not think total HP changed much.

Have to hear to know if you like the sound. I don't think there is much improvement from the change, though.

Installed a cat bypass from Fabspeed on my 2000 boxster s, performance gain was noticeable but not huge, I did feel that the torque was improved at low end. The sound was excellent, but probably most telling was that my wife noticed that the car ran smoother, said it felt like the car had received a really good tune. I plan on getting a full Fabspeed exhaust this spring when I get done with my winter projects (replacing all 18 of the cooling system hoses, O2 sensors, change of trans lube, and replacement of maf sensor), so if you would like to try a cat bypass cheap, check with me around the end of March.

I've been contemplating the bypass or full exhaust. If you go for the full package, let me know. I'll take the bypass pipes off you hands.

I have had Fabspeed systems on almost every Porsche i ever owned and they are awesome. Sound is def the main reason to get them though - for Boxsters and Caymans that is - because real power gains are tough to feel on the street from systems like this. Now if you have a turbo...thats another ballgame.

Two Thumbs Up for Fabspeed!!
