Sad

Scott was killed at Englishtown raceway while qualifying for the NHRA Supernationals. I've attached a photo of his car taken when I saw him run yesterday.

The link below is the story, followed by the video.

Be warned, the video is one of the most spectacular hotrod engine explosions I've ever seen. On one hand it's tragic to see him gone, but on the other it was incredibly fast and he died doing what he loved.

Yup, he was a good guy who couldn't give up the sport.

I saw him hanging out in his pit area before the qualifiers started.... just standing there watching the crowds go by. It's always sad to see someone so dedicated go.

Wow!  I am new to NHRA, but probably have seen him run at Maple Grove the past couple of years.  Just a shame.

Funny Car racing makes F1 look like it s a safe activity!  When you see those cars run, it is like nothing else.  A car just shouldn't be able to go that fast.

Sadly it comes with the territory. This is the second death in 2 years.

The explosion and fire were probably survivable (so I'm told by others that have seen worse), but the collision at the end of the track was just bad luck.
