The Duryea Hill Climb in Reading is this weekend if anyone is interested in seeing some really crazy racing. I was signed up to run but the car will not be ready for tech Fri night. They race Sat and Sun. I will be going to watch this year turn 6 is the best spot. It's fun doing over 100+ cresting a blind hill and getting some air.

That is a great event.  Last time I was here I saw a Shelby GT-350R from the sixties.

oh wow!  i've never been to a hill climb event, but i'd sure like to try one!   if i weren't racing with NASA at summit this weekend, i'd give it a go!!!   (would they have a class for a mostly stock ford probe?).

Todd,

You have done a lot of racing, but have you ever had the living shit scared out of you while doing it? Oh look there is a 100' drop off if you go off track or when you miss the famous corner at the top of the Pagoda that you just have to say F$%K I missed the corner, you are at a hill climb. In all my years of racing nothing compairs. Go to the Pa Hill Climb web site to see the dates. http://www.pahillclimb.org/

Sorry it is the Duryea Hill Climb this weekend that is the long course from the bottom to the top. The Pagoda is the short course

Todd,

You can run anything as long as it passes tech and if you got the balls to run with no cage. Lots of huge Oak trees and hills to fall down at every corner. A freind of mine who set a class record 6 years ago calls it the Butt Pucker of all racing.

hey, thanks for the info!   is there a website that has the in-depth regs and classing system for the pa hillclimbs?

my racecar is a 1993 Ford Probe GT, and i run it in NASA PTE class (almost like SCCA ITA).  car has a full cage, harnesses, kill switch, window nets, etc.  car is mostly stock, with the exception of coilovers, swaybars, interior removeal, tires, brakepads, and exhaust.

i'd love to give it a try!

EDIT:  i just found the info on one of the links you previously posted!  thanks!  Smile

The last time I ran Duryea it was in the 60s.  I never realized that it was dangerous at that time.  Of course, I was young, dumb, and "Bulletproof" then.  Now after several years of SCCA racing and after an extended absence from the track and now doing  DEs,  Hillclimbing is nuts.
