That would be funny except F1 drivers have only been average in NASCAR. WG is going where the money is. Trading a DE weekend for meeting NASCAR track standards to make millions over a weekend.

You have to admit those big ass fat heavy cars do run pretty damn fast on a road course. The tire makers could not make a rain tire to handle the lbs of a cup car.

How different are Sprint Cups from the Nationwide cars? 100# + 100 HP, yet they run in the rain, so the tires are not the issue.

Lou is correct. They actually have rain tire for Nascar. Most (if not all) of the Nascar drivers have run dirt track and would have no problem running in the rain. (very similar slip issues). Nascar corporate is the issue. They feel it may give drivers an advantage who are more experienced in the rain. (stupid reason). They also do not have lights on the cars (stickers) and have windshield fogging issues. Valid points, but easily corrected.
