C7 offers data/video as an option

When I was at AMG just before Thanksgiving my group went to a seperate facility Mercedes refers to as Designo Studio, basically it was the old Maybach assembly line that has now been converted into a more usable space. The Designo team is a sort of "special wishes" group of techs that specializes in offering factory installed custom option that are not on the list of normal options. As we were taking a tour of this facility the manager of the team was telling us about all the things this group is capable of doing. I asked in jest, "if I ordered a car and wanted to have a data logger installed and work with the command center your team would be able to install and program it to be integrated into the command. The answer I got was very encouraging, "We would love to have that type of project".

The technology is already there to have such things as this integrated into the electronics of todays cars but for the U.S. market there really is not a big demand. There are a number of reasons why this is, which will be saved for a whole other conversation but it's really nice to see a car manufacturer break through the barrier and offer this kind of option.
