Any Suggestions for a good helmet & communication system for DE and eventually Club racing? I'm thinking Bell open face Sport Mag.1 Rally rated with integrated Peltor intercom system. Thoughts?

I'm not sure about the rules for PCA Club Racing specifically, but my gut tells me that open faced helmets are not allowed. As the RTR PCA DE chair, I can tell you we allow both. However, we prefer to see drivers with full face helmets rather than open face helmets. Keep in mind, our preference may be different than other PCA regions or outside clubs. So, if you might ever want to drive with the BMW club, SCCA, or some other organization, their rules may be different. Also, at New Jersey Motorsports Park, if you do not have an airbag in your car, then you should not be using an open faced helmet. So, there can be track restrictions too. In short, if you want to error on the safe side, you should get a full-face helmet that is SA rated (Special Applications = fire retardant) rather than an "M" rated (Motorcycle = not fire retardant) helmet. Good luck with your final purchase. Hope to see you soon. Registration for ALL 2017 DE events is open and filling up fast - just go to: www.rtr-pca.motorsportreg.com to register. Thanks, Marty Kocse, RTR Track Chair

Thank you Marty, that's the information I was looking for. Perhaps I'll see you at Pocono May 12-14?
