Event Info: The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix over the years has expanded events and venues which now cumulate into a 10 day motor sport festival. Those events include the PVGPA Historic races at Beaverun. Held the 2[sup]nd[/sup] weekend in July, (July 12, & 13, 2008). As just about any one who is involved in the vintage racing world knows the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix held in Schenley Park has grown into one of the premier world wide vintage events. Entering its 26th straight year it is the longest continuous vintage street race in the world. Unfortunately given that it is a very tight street course with high curbs and stone walls many cars and drivers are unable to compete here. In 2004 the PVGP came up with a solution to that dilemma - the purpose built track at Beaverun MotorSports Complex in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania! The Historic Races at Beaverun feature cars from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, to current models. Cobra's, Camero's, Porsche's, Jaguar's and of course BMW's.
The Allegheny chapter sponsors a BMWCCA Club race at the Historic races. The official name is the BMWCCA / Porsche Club Race Challenge.
The BMW CCA / PCA Club Race Challenge is limited to 40 - club racers. It is open to all licensed BMW and PCA Club Racers. The "PVGP Historic Races" will feature a full weekend of classic racing with a Vintage Racing Group Production class, American "Ground Pounder" class, an open wheel class, VSCCA class as well as the BMW CCA / PCA Challenge. All years and classes of BMW's and Porsche racecars are eligible. BMWCCA Club Racing points awarded.
All drivers receive a Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix driver’s bag and shirt. Drivers and crew are provided box lunch both days by the PVGP. Drivers, crews and friends are invited to enjoy a Pig Roast trackside Saturday night. Drivers receive two tickets, extra tickets can be purchased. There is a driver’s reception on Friday, July 11th for all drivers, crew and families participating at Beaverun. The reception is located at the Four Points Sheraton, at the junction of I79 North and Route 19, about 13 miles east via Turnpike in Cranberry, Pa.
The PVGP also has a block of rooms reserved. Call 724-776-6900 for reservations.
Test and tune is scheduled for Friday, July 11[sup]th[/sup]. All participants receive at least 2 hours of track time, cost is $150. Visit http://www.pvgp.org for test and tune application
