Smile Sounds like everyone had a good time.  The car is still apart.  I 'll see everyone at our event or the DE event the week prior for those going.  Sorry to hear about your problems Brian.  By the way there were no bags of oil dry, just high school kids shoveling sand on your slick from track side. Glad everyone enjoyed the new track.  I certainly did!  My only criticism is that the track could use a few more left turns.  My neck was getting tired from the constant right turn g's Smile

I just downloaded my traqmate data & video.  I was consistently in the 1:33's by the end of the day, and managed a best of 1:32.3.

Here's a link to a video:  http://gallery.me.com/jakp993/100136

I definitely braked for turn 2 & 3 and I was finally figuring out how fast turn 4 was by the end of the day.

I need to experiment a bit more with the decreasing radius corner.  I found a line that felt good for the car, but I'm not sure it's the fastest.  You'll see that I lose ground to Eric going thru that section.  BTW - Eric was driving the hell out of his M3.  We had some fun laps.

Looking forward to our next event @ Thunderbolt.

What!!??? George missed an event??? No wonder the market tanked! There must be something wrong with the world.

Hope you can make the 3-day event next month.

Found this on the net:

"Here are some times from different series cars on the same course (Thunderbolt). These are the fastest times or overall winning times in each groups category, not average times of the entire field."

Speaking of trail braking...

Does anyone else find themselves trailbraking significantly more around thunderbolt (besides in the octopus )?  I don't know what is was...

Quote:My Saga of our advanced day. 2nd lap of familarization laps I noticed smoke behind my car at turn 3. There is still water on the track so I am not sure if it is steam coming off the exhaust or smoke. 20 yards after turn 3 I decide it is smoke and look at oil pressure and its good. Smoke is getting thicker so I pull off line and put out my fist that I am going to pit in. By now I can smell that it is oil. Drove the rest of the way around the track and pitted in. Jump out of car in the paddock and there is oil pouring out and the back of the car is covered with oil. My day is done and I never even turned a hot lap.Sad To add insult to injury today I find out that it cost me $500 for 50 bags of oil dry to clean the track up. The damage is either a case stud or the cylinder on #4. Will Know more when the engine is torn down on Monday. Hope to have it back together in time for our 3 day event at thunderbolt.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. The hyperfest guys are really happy, because with all the oil on the track, the drifting will be more intenseBig Grin.

I guess since the Valdez is spending some time being cared for, this will give you some time to answer Wayne's questions. http://rtr.mywowbb.com/forum32/1330.html

The diagnosis is in and the 993 broke a case bolt. I have heard of the O rings on the case bolts failing and causing minor oil leaks but never have I heard of a case bolt breaking.  So the parts are ordered and the car should be ready for the next Thunderbolt event.
