With auto insurance policies changing (and my increasing addiction to the sport) I want to cover the bases with DE insurance.  I've checked into WSIB and HPDE and was wondering if anyone has opinions on these or other carrier recommendations.  Thanks!

I purchase Insurance for each event from Lockton Affinity. It is very easy to do on line. link is; https://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/  Luckily I have not had to make a claim so I can not give any comments from that perspective. Make sure you purchase before the event starts, even if you may not be driving the first day.

That's the same insurance I buy. I like it because it gives me insurance without having to pay for a full season, and since I only get 3-5 events a year, it's still cheap enough that it makes more sense to go with LocktonAffinity as opposed a full season of DE insurance with someone like WSIB or any of the others.

I use WSIB for my Diasio and Evo and I've also used Lockton Affinity on many occasions for single event coverage.

WSIB is widely used in the DE community and they will write coverage for the value of a particular vehicle and based upon the number of anticipated events per year.

I have had extensive telephone discussions with the principle of Lockton Affinity, Ryan Staub, and they seem to be a reputable track insurer.  They are very selective with which clubs they will participate and very knowledgeable about the DE process.  They have strict standards for the club events and how they handle run groups, passing, etc.  Clearly Porsche and BMW events are all approved clubs for their underwriting and coverage, but for the other clubs you will have to check with them prior to buying the insurance.  I think they are a great option for single event DE insurance coverage.

I called WSIB a few minutes ago. I found that based on my car value; if I drive more than 7 events a year it pays to use them with an annual policy than to use the HPDE insurer on a per event basis. I suggest that each driver explore both, based on their car value and number of events driven.

That is true about WSIB, however, in my discussions with Lockton Affinity... they will be introducing a discount program for multiple events very shortly.  Their aim is to be competitive (no affiliation) .

Thanks all for the feedback, this is a worthwhile discussion.

I haven't checked Lockton Affinity as yet but I have found that for >6 events yearly WSIB is a cheaper alternative than HPDE.  Also, WSIB insures for full value whereas HPDE is limited to 100k max.

Sorry for the newbie mistake but the HPDE insurer I checked online is the Lockton Affinity affiliate.  As mentioned, the break even-point between this and WSIB is about 6 DEs yearly, though this likely varies based on experience and car value.  The only other detail is the 100k max payout with Lockton.

WSIB has a $2500 deductible. They will insure up to $150K in value less the deductible. They will quote based on number of events per year( 365 days from 1st Event); 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 etc.
Lockton Affinity has a $1000 deductible. They will Insure up to $100K and as of now will only write on a per event basis.
I think the question all of us would like answered is; Does any one have any claim experience?
