If you'd listen to Randy Probst talk, he was an AXer fefore a road racer........ that experience made him a far better driver. Those words came from him. :dude:

I don't think anyone is saying that being an AX'er is a bad thing.  You don't need to defend/challenge it.

 

But I would hazzard a guess (answer) to your question.... the reason there are more DE'ers than AX'ers is that DE is more fun.

 

A day of AX consists of a handful of 60 second runs, a day at the track is roughly 80 minutes of track time.  Unless you're at Pocono and then it's sit around in the fog for the morning and then go out in the afternoon.

Anyways, how come Riesentoter does not do time trials at track events?

Because some participants seem to think they ran a second or two faster than they actually did. hock: Just go race in a field of say 70 cars in the rain. Now that's challenging and fun. Nothing wrong with autocross, but comparing DE and Autocross is not relevant. We had at least 20 cars that race NASA, PCA, and SCCA at the last event honing their skills and having fun.

Nick you always seem to pick this argument by trash talking DE & Road racing as if anyone is really listening.

No! You got it wrong this time. I'd just like to get some people's blood heated up (not boiling) a bit to get them involved in the club and AX. AX has gotten a bad rap at RTR. When only 8 people participate in a roadshow event out of 1200+ members............ it is not SAD, it is shamefull. It is not fair to have one person responsible for the AX program without a supporting cast, and make it a go of it. Why don't the DE people get involved and help out for this also to be a success? It is driving, it's competitive, it's bantering, it's fun. It may not be your first choice, but it is the most affordable club competitive event, right?

So who would like to take my CHALLENGE? I am not picking on anybody, and I don't know the exact formula, but I'm trying to help the AX program...............

THis started out as a great thread under the subject " Driver Education".  There happens to be another category for Autocross.  You could also try "Off Topic" for rants about how DE drivers are inferior to your autocross skills.   As far as your opinion(s) about yourself I can only say fast drivers/racers seem to say very little about how good they are, but let their results do the talking.

DE is sleepwalking?  Who are you?  Do you attend our DE events?  Have you actually looked at Mikes pictures and seen the car to car overlap into 7 that requires pretty significant levels of skill by all to manage situations such as that properly?  

In addition, DE events are so much more than just driving around the track.  The after the track is closed social interaction is just as much fun as the driving itself. 

Mike these pictures are fantastic as many have stated.  To me they are professional in quality and capture the essence of our DE event as well as the motorsports competition going on next door.  Great job!!   

What a great weekend!  Can't wait for the Glen!!
