This is a press release from Watkins Glen International about saftey improvments being made to the track before the 2010 season.  All great improvements to make the track safer.  My only question is do the rental rates go up?

A step in the right direction, although there are many areas where
the track surface is only a few feet from the guard rails leaving virtually
no room for error.  Still, it is a track to respect.

George, which area are you referring to? I am going to make it to the Glen this year and would be interested in any/all comments....

The Blue Bushes at the Glen are around most of the track.  The improvements mentioned in the press release only make it safer in the corners listed.  It will always be a track to approach with the utmost respect.

Brian is right. Pretty much the entire track is surrounded
by the blue guard rail (blue bushes). Once you get there,
you'll see, but just keep your eyes focused on the road
ahead and you'll be fine! Smile

the Glen is my most favorite of all tracks!!!!!!!!   it totally flows like no other track, and you can feel the history in it's DNA as you circulate around it...

here's a vid of me driving my honda civic a couple of years ago up at the Glen;  you can clearly see the guardrails most places!  ha ha!:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...6322906520

you definitely have to respect this place, but when you get it right, there's a feeling like no other!!!

oh, thats back when the honda was just getting sorted out;  a year later it was running MUCH better than that (and about 6 months after that, i crunched it at NJMP...  boo hoo!  Sad   )    someday i'll repair the bodywork and bring it back out to play with you guys again...

PS  racing (not DEing) at the Glen is the most incredible experience;  i really love to race there!  separates the men from the boys, especially in the rain!   Smile

Lainey, at my first DE, Mike Andrews welcomed the rookies with, "Welcome to your next addiction."   Watkins Glen is the heroin of RTR DE.
