Has anyone ever had to troubleshoot their Auto Heat system?  I have gotten a lot of info from Pelican, but it is actually overwhelming.  Can someone tell me where to start?

Thanks so much.

The first order of business is understanding how the damn thing works.

This site has a good overview and troubleshooting guide.

You're welcome. Also, my first comment was intended to be facetious.

I have never seen such a convoluted climate control system before. I don't think I know how to fully operate it myself. My essential knowledge is simply "red knobs up, heat on".

Did you read some of the tests?  Like I know how to test a "potentiometer"??!!  I don't even know how to spell it.  I mean, I used to have the best heat, and after I just went in and did a ton of engine work, it decides to quit on me.  And have you rad the schematic??  OMG, where to start.

But like everything else, I'll just stick with it, and eventually figure it out.

I wish I just had the levers like everyone else.

Chris,

I assume you are talking about the heat in your Carrera....

If you take the cover off of the passenger side of the heat controller (between the seats) you'll find a small rod that connects the heat controller to the auto heat mechanism.  The rod ends on that rod fails and the heat stops working.

Cool!!  Thanks Mike.  I will start there, and then work backwards if necessary.

Chris, it looks like you are in good hands.  BTW it's easy to check a potentiometer (basically an adjustable resistor) with a good mutltimeter.
