Autocross Regulars!!!!!!!!

The club is running a training program for new or inexperienced drivers. This is a great chance to develop new Autocross participants. This is a club only event. Sunday, April 28.

You can bring your spouses. They can try their luck in a controlled environment. & IT IS FREE!!!

We need volunteers to help run the program. Let’s show the club we can support their efforts. Maggie and I are in and could use 6 – 10 helpers.

Should also be good for those considering DE.

Can we bring someone else's spouse? Then again, that might not be lucky or controlled, never mind.

V, I absolutely agree. I am trying to get some of our autocross regulars involved.

Hi Dave,
I'm trying to clear my schedule for the 28th, I will PM you when I make sure Colin and I can make it. Will we need separate cars?

You actually do not need a car. The trainees will have their own car. We really need bodies.

Unfortunately when we set up the event on MSR we did not have the option to volunteer on the site. Marty may or may not be able to make the change and add it. None the less, AX's who want to instruct at the event, just sign in as a regular participant (even if you're wait listed), we'll know who you are. The more Instructors we have the more we can admit to the clinic for training.

What is the format of the clinic? What are the "driving activities" for the day? I may be able to instruct that day.

Greg,

You would definitely be able to instruct. The format is similar to the Street Survival session. There is classroom and in-car exercises. This is basic training to teach car control. The goal is to have one instructor in each car.

After the event, in my excitement, I accidentally posted my reply to the RTR event in the SCCA event forum. Sorry for the cross posting, but wanted to make sure everyone who looked here got the message...

A great day where students learned elements of car control and pushing and or exceeding the limits of the car's capabilities.

One student was concerned that he wouldn't find the limits on such a "slow" course. Needless to say, he exceeded the limit on more than one occasion. Everyone learned a lot and from the faces it looked like everyone had fun doing it. Good excercises for street survival or as a primer for AX or DE.

Kudos to the RTR team, who put together a well organized event.
